From Las Vegas

After the second trip to Las Vegas, several of my coworkers discussed with me about how they feel about Las Vegas. Here are some of the interesting points.
1. Las Vegas are so fake. Walking through the fansy hotel, shining street, and a pretty model view from the needles, you get nothing. Because everything is not real. The caesars palace, the venus in venitian, the liberty and Eiffel Tower .. are not real. This city creats an illusion of the fancy world. But this is just another place for business. One of my coworker happened to see that the offices with computers are just like our office. Such constrat makes it even unrealistic.
2. People are so desperate to show off. You can see people dress up, spend a lot of money, talk weird. This is the place that people pretend that you are someone else. I finally learnt that people like to impress other people just by spending a lot of money. Even they have huge debt in their credit card.
3. This is really a sin city. All the shows and commercials are so insulting. But this creates a lot of attractions. The hotel published the coupons that the users can never claim the points. A lot of lure.
4. The major big hotels may not profit. They have public record to show the financial summary of the revenue and cash flows. This is reasonable. They have to spend big operating expenses just to run the hotel. Some of my friends got free tickets to las vegas just because the airline did not meet the quote for the hotels, so they have to give them away.

This happened like 4 weeks ago. Just to record it before I forget everything. But I do not see myself go there again in recent years. Natual beauty is more attractive.

From A Fair to A Scandle

Actually when I first found the post and check the links, I just feel like something is going to happen. I am quite interested in gossip. But I am really impressed by some "investigators" this time.

So many years in school brings some research spirit to education survivors. This story starts from a fair from a guy with his senior female student in the same lab. After the disclosure of the afair by the wife, the "researchers" collect all the pictures from website , from which we can get the clue about how the guy and the senior student and the wife look at. After that, these reseraches digged more information on who is the professor that was so push that the guy has to transfer to another lab.

Bang, they found that the professor is a very pretty female. So they check the resume, publication, fundings and rewards. Some of the even read the papers and studied how the million dollar reward came from. At the same time, another female claimed that this professor has a fair with her husband years ago. So the suspect aroused. Based on the ID this professor used, they found the original post from this ID: " how to apply for faulty position?", "how to get greencard through marriage". Then they found that the direct , responsible for the NSF funding, is a male from Taiwan. They also found that the education background of this lady is not true. So all the achievement for this lady comes from the result of "sleeping around".

I am so impressed with the imagination and research spirit. they can dig out so many dirts. But I believe the reason is that they just can not believe that a pretty female can achieve so many things without help from another "male".
